The Forró

Pátio do Forró com Turista

Forró com Turista was created in 1987 to offer both tourists and locals anotherentertainment option at night in our city with a focus on the traditional culture of forrópé de serra (traditional music), dance, repente (regional improvisation-style rhyming andstory telling style) and art. Our program values local artists, thus creating opportunities and jobs.

Natal’s most traditional forró is proud of its 30-year tradition! Our purpose has always been to continuously maintain and value the real and authentic forrópé de serra, with lots of rhythms including xote, xaxado, baião, forró and beautiful people. On a weekly basis we present our art, rhythms and values beyond our borders, and transform Thursday nights into a tradition!

We offer full bar service and a dance group of 12 young people (6 couples) whose job is to interact with the audience and invite them to dance. An improviser greets visitors from other states and countries through poetry. We also offer a transfer service so that you can enjoy the party safely. For this service, check the times, prices and schedules beforehand e by calling (84) 3211-6218.

Forró com Turista happens every Thursday night throughout the year at Natal’s Tourism Center, a building that is landmarked as a National Heritage site. In addition to being one of the best craft centers in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, you will find the Marenosso Restaurant, which offers beautiful views of Natal’s urban beaches and serves regional and contemporary cuisine that you won’t want to miss!

Nowadays the courtyard of this old prison serves as the dancefloor for Forró com Turista. Here, Natalenses interact with tourists from all regions of Brazil and various other countries to the backdrop of lots of forró, excitement, dance and improvised square dancing! Diverse cultures meet in one space with a common objective: to promote the culture of Brazil’s northeast region and well receive those who visit us!
